Cheap PC Games Worth Grabbing Right Now
Some genuinely great PC games are going cheap right now, and a few of them are too good to scroll past.
Mid-June and there are some cracking deals sitting on Gamivo at the moment. These are grey-market keys, so worth knowing that going in, but I've bought from there loads of times without issue. Anyway, here's what caught my eye.
Resident Evil 4 (Remake)
Still one of the best remakes ever made, full stop. Capcom took a game that was already a classic and somehow made it feel fresh without losing what made the original special. The combat is slick, Leon is great, and the village section alone is worth the price of admission. It's currently going cheap right now and honestly, if you haven't played it yet, there's no excuse left. Grab it.
Monster Hunter: World
This one launched back in 2018 and it's still brilliant. Hundreds of hours of content, satisfying gear loops, and co-op that actually works. It's a fraction of what it cost at launch now. If you bounced off it early on, I'd say give it another go with a friend. The first few hours are slow but once it clicks, it really clicks. The Iceborne expansion is worth looking at too once you're done with the base game.
Vampire Survivors
Look, I know everyone and their nan has talked about this game already, but it's still one of the best value purchases on PC. It's a tiny download, runs on basically anything, and you'll lose entire evenings to it. One of the cheapest it's been right now. If you somehow don't own it yet, sort that out.
Enter the Gungeon
A roguelike shooter built around one of the best central jokes in gaming (everything is guns, including the past, apparently). It's tight, it's funny, and it's genuinely challenging without feeling unfair. Currently on sale and well worth it for fans of the genre. Pairs well with a cup of tea and an hour to kill, though fair warning, one hour always turns into three.
Stellaris
Paradox grand strategy games are a commitment, no getting around that. But Stellaris is probably the most approachable one they make. You're building a space empire, managing alien diplomacy, and occasionally watching your entire civilisation get eaten by a void creature. You know, normal Tuesday stuff. The base game is going cheap right now and it's a solid starting point before you start eyeing up the DLC. Just don't buy all the DLC at once. Seriously.
A couple more worth a look
Hearts of Iron IV is also sitting at a decent price if you fancy something more historically grounded. It's a proper deep strategy game set in World War II and it has one of the most active modding communities on Steam. Takes a while to learn but there's nothing else quite like it.
And if you're into survival games, Once Human is worth checking out. It's a post-apocalyptic open world with some interesting ideas, though it's a bit rough around the edges. Worth a look at the current price if you're curious.
Final thought
Resident Evil 4 is the standout pick from this lot, no question. But if you want something with ridiculous replay value for almost nothing, Vampire Survivors and Enter the Gungeon are both doing the job right now. Check the live prices on each, they move around, so what's cheap today might creep back up tomorrow.
